Métier Press
Our purpose is simple. Make something beautiful. In an age where everything scales but nothing is real, we choose to pursue slowness and embrace craft.

Purpose & Values
Literary Art
We see room to elevate the reading experience in different ways, to open up the oeuvre of fine bookbinding to a wider breadth of art and design while remaining true to its legacy. Métier exists as a love letter to the act of reading, and the book as an object. There's a world of untapped possibility out there. Our aim is to push books into new and exciting artistic territory.
Purpose & Values
Timeless & Timely
Métier balances relevance with reverence, mixing a contemporary design ethos with the use of fine materials and handmade techniques. Like any adept artist, author, or chef, we are taking what’s come before and building upon it to create something new.
Our Design Ethos
Métier Press
The utmost in the art of the book. Combine traditional fine bookbinding techniques and considered materials with a refined design sensibility.

Our Design Ethos
Fine Printing & Binding
Métier collaborates with internationally recognized artisan printers and binders. There is nothing scalable about the fine processes employed in the making of our books. Where mass produced books can be made in minutes, each copy of a Métier title takes years to produce.
Every step in the production of our books is done with care at the highest level; we do not use offset, digital, inkjet or giclée. Each book is bound by hand using fine binding techniques and printed letterpress on vintage machines. We use paper produced by esteemed mills, and leather sourced from a historic French tannery.

Our Design Ethos
Art & Illustration
Art has the distinct ability to convey deep meaning. Books are exercises in imagination, and part of what makes them special is the unique journey rendered in the mind's eye. One of the ways we differ is our choice not to insert ourselves into the author’s creative vision. Instead of using illustration to depict narrative, we choose visual concepts that elicit the themes and arcs of our titles. To us, the story and the book itself are the works of art.

Our Design Ethos
True Limited Editions
Part of what makes limited edition books so special is their inherent scarcity. We believe large limitations diminish value, are counter to their purpose and intent, and can be a disservice to collectors. Métier will never reprint any of our titles, and our releases will always be truly limited.

Our Design Ethos
Craft & Collector First
Likewise, we feel author signatures can be of real value to the reader, and in our quest to provide the ultimate experience and object, will seek them out where relevant. We also believe there is a limit on the degrees of separation with which signatures are truly additive—we will never put sales before substance.
